Khách du bỗng có một người,
Kỳ Tâm họ Thúc cũng nòi thư hương,
Vốn người huyện Tích châu Thường,
Theo nghiêm đường mở ngôi hàng Lâm Tri,
Hoa khôi mộ tiếng Kiều nhi,
Thiếp hồng tìm đến hương khuê gửi vào,
Trướng tô giáp mặt hoa đào,
Vẻ nào chẳng mặn nét nào chẳng ưa.

Hải đường mơn mớn cành tơ,
Ngày xuân càng gió càng mưa càng nồng,
Nguyệt hoa hoa nguyệt não nùng,
Ðêm xuân ai dễ cầm lòng được chăng ?
Lạ gì thanh khí lẽ hằng,
Một dây một buộc ai giằng cho ra,
Sớm đào tối mận lân la,
Trước còn trăng gió sau ra đá vàng,
Dịp đâu may mắn lạ dường,
Lại vừa gặp khoảng xuân đường lại quê.

Sinh càng một tỉnh mười mê,
Ngày xuân lắm lúc đi về với xuân,
Khi gió gác khi trăng sân,
Bầu tiên chuốc rượu câu thần nối thơ,
Khi hương sớm khi trà trưa,
Bàn vây điểm nước đường tơ họa đàn,
Miệt mài trong cuộc trụy hoan,
Càng quen thuộc nết càng đan díu tình,
Lạ cho cái sóng khuynh thành,
Làm cho đổ quán xiêu đình như chơi.

Trăm nghìn đổ một trận cười như không,
Mụ càng tô lục chuốc hồng,
Máu tham hễ thấy hơi đồng thì mê,
Dưới trăng quên đã gọi hè,
Ðầu tường lửa lựu lập lòe đâm bông,
Buồng the phải buổi thong dong,
Thang lan rủ bức trướng hồng tắm hoa,
Rõ ràng trong ngọc trắng ngà,
Dày dày sẵn đúc một tòa thiên nhiên.

Parmi les habitués de la maison de joie se trouve soudain un homme dont le petit nom était Ky Tâm et le nom de famille Thuc. Il descendait d’une famille de lettrés.
Originaire du Châu de Thuong, dépendant de la sous préfecture de Tich.
Il avait suivi son père à Lâm Tri où ils avaient ouvert une maison de commerce.
La célébrité de la petite Kieu, Reine des fleurs émut ce fils de famille.

Une carte rose fut envoyée dans le quartier et portée jusqu’à la chambre parfumée pensionnaire.
Derrière le rideau à frise, il fit la connaissance de cette fleur de pêcher.
Et fut ébloui de ses manières passionnées de ses traits.
Le beau camélia était épanoui dans toute sa beauté sur son rameau vigoureux.
Et en ces jours de printemps plus il ventait plus il pleuvait, plus nos amants s’enivraient l’un de l’autre.

Lune et fleurs, fleurs et lune, c’était une idylle émouvante entre ces deux êtres également beaux.
Durant ces nuits de printemps, comment est-il possible à quiconque de contenir son cœur de retenir ses épanchements.
Il n’y a rien d’étonnant dans ces sympathies spontanées entre qui se comprennent.
Le lien qui les attache se serre de jour en jour davantage et qui peut le rompre.

Le matin on se donne des pêches, le soir des prunes et l’intimité s’établit.
Ce fut d’abord de l’amour frivole cela devint ensuite une liaison sérieuse.
Et quel concours extraordinaire d’heureuses circonstances.
Le père s’absenta pour un voyage au pays natal.
Le jeune homme sentit décupler sa passion.

Durant ces jours de printemps on se sent plus attiré vers l’amour et les visites se multiplièrent.
Ensemble ils montaient respirer l’air pur à l’étage et ensemble ils jouissaient du clair de lune sur la terrasse. Ils goutaient ensemble au plaisir des immortels de boire et se livraient au jeu divin de la chaîne des vers. Le matin ils brulaient l’encens pour le sentir ensemble le thé.
Ils s’adonnaient au jeu si savant du go et jouaient ensemble du pipa en concert.

Tous deux se laissèrent absorber entièrement dans cette longue partie de plaisirs variés.
Plus ils se connaissaient plus ils se sentaient liés l’un à l’autre.
Combien étranges sont les efforts de la beauté d’une femme.
Ils font tomber les bâtiments publics et les hôtels de ville comme pour s’amuser.
Le jeune Thuc avait l’habitude de dépenser l’argent sans compter.
Dans un accès de gaîté il jetait des cents et des milles comme rien du tout.
La vieille soigna encore davantage son aimable marchandise.
De tempérament cupide elle se passionnait pour le gain.
Au cours des nuits éclairées par la lune les poules d’eau commençaient à annoncer l’été.
Dans les coins de murs, les grenadiers commençaient à faire surgir leurs flammes rouges.
Dans sa chambre aux teintures de soie transparente Kieu profitant des loisirs d’une après midi.
Prit une fois son bain parfumé derrière un rideau rose.
C’était un beau spectacle de clarté et de blancheur. Un chef d’œuvre du créateur de forme imposante.

One day an itinerant customer named Thuc Ky Tâm appeared. The man belonged to a literary family in Hangchou (Tich) of the sub-prefecture of Wuhsi (Thuong). In the company of his severe father, he came to Ihsien (Lâm Tri) and opened a mercantile shop in this region. Very impressed by the reputation of this queen of flowers, Thuc set out for the green house and sent a rose-colored card to her perfumed room. No sooner had he sat face to face with his peach-flower behind frieze curtains than the young man was immediately fascinated by her manners and enamored with her lovely features. Like a young bough of camellia in its full splendor, the more stormy or rainy the weather was the sweeter she became in the spring of love. The transports of their passion seemed like the moon transmitting its beams on the flowers or like the flowers bathed in moonlights. During such a spring night, what lovers can moderate the effusion of their hearts? Why wonders? Isn’t union through souls a normal law? Who could break this link when they had willingly made the knot themselves?
After this meeting they continued to contact each other by exchanging peaches in the morning and plums in the evening. Their love, as light as moonlight or the breeze at the beginning, became soon as heavy as stone or gold. As to favor this furtive love affair a happy event occurred unexpectedly: Thuc’s father had to travel back to his native country for some business. This time, the young man seemed to lose his wits and his love increased tenfold. He spent most of the spring days answering the call of love. Sometimes they spent hours on the balcony, enjoying the fresh breeze, occasionally sitting on the terrace, contemplating the bright moon in the sky, tasting the immortal’s wine and playing the divine game of completing chains of verses.
How many times they sat by side? Breathing the early perfume of dawn and enjoying the aroma of tea at noontime. Playing chess also occupied a large part of their time besides their addition to playing pipa in concert. Nothing obsessed them now but the thought of running after pleasures. The more they became acquainted with each other, the warmer was their passion. How strange it was, the beauty of this girl. Really, it could subvert cities, overthrow buildings and with case make palaces totter. Thuc became used to playing ducks and drakes with his money: he had paid hundreds and thousands of taels, just for laughing as though money were noting to him.
As for the old woman, she showed more attention to her beautiful boarder. With her greed, what could more easily increase her inebriety than the odor of money?
The call of cuckoos rose in the moonlit night, announcing the coming of summer. In a corner of the wall, fire like buttons of a pomegranate-tree started blooming. Kiêu profited from hour of liberty to take a perfume bath in her room. Though the light rosy gauze curtain, the silhouette of her body stood out as white and transparent as if it were” made of jade and ivory. It resembled truly a perfect state and a divine masterpiece.
